Can anyone find the brake fluid reservoir without taking 16 pieces of molding off?

For my first track day I had my brake fluid replaced with high-performance/high-temperature fluid. They showed me the 16 pieces they needed to take off to get to the brake fluid reservoir.

If you have not looked at your car's brake fluid reservoir I would ask you to see if you can find it.

Unless the mechanic that put in the high-temperature brake fluid in my car and the people from PPI are uninformed this MUST be the worst design I have ever seen.

I would love to hear solutions from others with pictures.

Obviously, the brake reservoir cap was SUPPOSED to line up with the little pocket molded into the trim (someone here called it the "condom holder" LOL). It is pretty unbelievable that three years into production Aud hasn't fixed the trim piece so it matches the actual location of the brake reservoir.

I think that the pocket in the trim is for the opening to the windshield washer fluid on RHD cars since it is symmetrical with the one on our LHD cars!! I agree that hiding the brake fluid fill cap is probably the most dumb thing I have found about my R8.

I have a question ....how much brake fluid is required to change from the "standard" fluid to Motul 600? I am about to change mine but I am not sure I have bought enough (I got 2x 500ml)

The quantity needed is small. One bottle should be enough, so your two bottles should be plenty. The problem is in knowing when to stop bleeding - since the fluid is the same color there is no obvious indication of when to stop. When I did it I'm sure I wasted a lot of fluid.

Good call on the pocket, that makes sense.

Adding to my previous post, one possible method is to simply use 1/4 bottle for each wheel. That should do it. MT, do you agree?

Even the Audi garage were stumped by the changeover the fluid. When I asked them to do it, they reckoned it would be an hours work. We got in at 9am sharp, were out by just after 2 pm. They were too embarrassed to send me a bill.

I got a bill for changing to Motul 600. I was told it would be $85. It cost over $200.
