How many people will be using the R8 was their daily driver? Do you think it will attract unwanted attention in car parks as ferraris & porsches do?

I will make around 15000km per year with my R8. It will be my second car.
I will use it daily, and will do around 35'000km a year (but not the first year...)

Hi all. Just a question that popped in my head when the idea of daily use was aired. If someone key scratches your expensive CF sideblades - are they repairable in any way? If somebody does it to your paintwork (and I'm sure we have all been on the receiving end of these a...holes) you are in for a paintjob which is bad enough - but what do you do with scratched carbon fibre? Any experts?
John
I have mentioned scratched CF in another post.
Basically, you are in trouble. The top layer is a heavy acrylic or other see-through polymer with CF set in it. Once scratched or gouged, its like a scratched piece of glass. You cannot easily fill it or repair it you can with paint or bodywork.
You might find some specialist who can polish it, but that's about it.............
And yes, like any rare and attractive car, I'm sure you will get those who admire and those who are jealous..........
I'm planning to get a £15k smoker for day-to-day use, as it's not really appropriate for me to turn up to customers in an R8 - I can only just about get away with it in the M6! I'm thinking a GTi-type hatchback, or maybe an A4 or summat.
Idea is that R8 will be for high days & holidays, and maybe European/Scotland trips, and to still keep the Elise for trackdays too.
Time to get a bigger garage!

I'm expecting to use mine daily expect for high mileage business trips down the motorway or on the odd occasion where the car will have to be left somewhere unsafe. Do the same now with my current car and take the A3 or the mini or better still one of my mates' company cars when the need arises. Thinking of getting car no. 4 when the R8 arrives - probably an old A6 Avant or 5 series estate for practicality.![]()
I intend to use mine as a daily driver but it will have to be left in a large public car park at least once a week. I usually leave my car (SLK55 AMG) parked well away from everyone else and have had no trouble up till now, but I supect the R8 due to its rarity may no be so lucky.Smart Car here I come.

As can be seen from my signature I'm currently a two car person ... a three car household if you include my other half's Z4M ... the RS4 and Z4M sharing the daily drives as we work together ... the NSX is currently hiding in the garage after a small knock at the end of last year ... although I hope to have this put right before the spring and better weather arrives.
There are too many variables to know for certain if the R8 will replace the RS4 and therefore be expected to do it's share of the daily workload ... or whether it will become another car for ... "high days & holidays" ... as AndyW said.
If it turns out that the R8 becomes another "high days & holidays" car instead of my daily work horse ... I will be a very happy bunny ... not only will I have possibly the best midsize saloon ... supercar chaser/beater ... as my everyday work horse ... but I'll still have my dream car in the garage ... the NSX ... and I'll have the R8 for days when four wheel drive grip is more important than the sleek look of the NSX.
I'll also be looking for a new house ... with a bigger garage ...![]()
Gone but not forgotten ...
VW Golf V6 4motion (does just what it says on the tin)
Vauxhall Lotus Carlton (a beast of a motorway cruiser)
Honda NSX, manual JDM (a beauty to drive anywhere)
Audi RS4, B7 saloon (awesome on any road - or track)
Will use my VW GTI(DSG) as daily driver - the R8 will be for tracks/weekends but will be in storage during Jan-Mar due to weather here in Canada - not that the R8 is not capable but then....Will also sell the 1987 3.2 Carrera Targa when the R8 arrives.
