iphone bluetooth issues

Anybody else having problems with their 3G iphone. I had a 2G in my 2009 and never had it drop. My new 32GB 3G will occasionall drop the bluetooth connection. It connects back in 10 seconds 95% of the time but sometimes never does. A search shows a lot of audi owners complaining of similar problems with other models but haven't found much from the R8. If you mess with the sleep settings and resync, etc. doesn't seem to help. Any other experiences?

I have had a 3G iPhone for over one year and, at first, no problems but I have been experiencing a similar issue to the one you describe since an iPhone software update which happened about 4 - 6 weeks ago.

There was another software update sometime last week and, the one time I drove my R8 since then, it did not misbehave (but that is a small sample size so I am not sure that it has been cured).

I'm fully updated with the last update and had hoped it was fixed because it did well for the last week until this morning when it dropped as usual.

I will drive my R8 tomorrow (decent weather again ) and will report back

I have only used my 3GS a couple of times with the R8 radio. I've been leaving the Audi bluetooth turned off until they fix the atomic-powered volume problem. DW got me a little unit that clips onto the rearview mirror, I just have to remember to turn down the radio when I get a call. No dropped calls using it, so the problem may be specific to Audi systems (or even worse, just the R8 systems)

Had similar issues, thought it was because it was in my pocket, but even just sitting there it did the same. It's definitely an iPhone issue though as since I switched to the Pre, no issues

The problem, which had been present 100% of the time after the 3.1 release, did not manifest itself today. Since 3.1.2 I have not experienced the problem. Will keep monitoring.

I am on 3.1.2 also. Had it happen once since update. I agree that it seemed to start with 3.1. Interestingly, I have never had any problem in my BMW 3 series or F350.

Just picked up my 2010 R8 4.2 last night. My salesman tried to synch my 3Gs to the Bluebooth unit. All seemed to go well, except the Bluetooth will not dial a number from the address book without defaulting to "disconnect(ing)." An incoming call test worked fine, except for that HORRIBLY LOUD RING TONE!!! OMG....I stayed shaken up for an hour afterward. My salesman called Audi and Audi apparently told him nothing can be done about the loud ringer, but that it "isn't as noticable at road speed." Yeah, but what about when I'm not going 70 mph? He also indicated that the iPhone isn't fully compatible with Audi's interface. I thought Audi's interface was supposed to be the "iPhone of car audio systems." This is madness. And, more than a touch disappointing. I don't even think I'll be able to use the Bluetooth at this point, else I end up in a ditch somewhere.
