R8 dashboard takeapart instructions and alpine kce 425i

Hi.. im looking to fit an alpine kce425 unit in my 2008 UK R8 V8 so i can enjoy my iphone music through the B&O stereo..

in order to do this, i need to get behind the mmi, which should be as simple as using the removal keys and pulling the unit out..fine so far..

now i would like to be able to feed the ipod connector harness through the glove box.. if u look at the back of the glove box, there is a space for a socket or wire on the right hand side, mirroring the spare 12v jack on the left hand side..

now the question remains on how to get to the back of the glovebox through the dashboard.. if u run a finger along the top of the glove compartment u can feel a couple of screws which seem to hold the left side of the dash down.. but the dash extends all the way, unlike other cars ive taken apart (and reassembled.) does anyone know how to disassemble the dash.. or is there an alternative way to get to the back of the glove box..

    any ideas peeps..

also, my MMI unit has CD/SD, but i cant see a TV source input..does this magically appear if something is hooked to an AV port of the MMI unit ?

lmao.. nice one.. i have one of these already.. but its not safe controlling the device while driving.. quite annoying relying on shuffle on long motorway drives..

When you're connecting via the iPod/iPhone headphone jack => AUX input in the console glove box, you're using a VERY low powered signal. I can run out of volume at high speeds. The iPod connector (the one used to power & synch) seems to be a higher powered output, possibly of better quality too.

Getting back onto this (very interesting) subject...
Attached is a file showing the glovebox assembly. Need to unzip as I couldn't upload the whole PDF.

Let me know if you need any more sections.
