I know in some of the non-LED cars, the daytime running lights would turn off when signaling a lane change. Havent heard if this occurs with the LED's or not.

Hi Peter. When the "Headlights"...LEDs in the V10, are OFF, the long continuous strip of LED DRLs go OFF when the turn signal is activated. When the Headlights are ON, the strip of DRLs DIM, but DON'T turn OFF when you use the turn signal.
As far as I know there is not a way to modify this. But is actually looks good to me!

It is a safety feature that Audi has done for the US, due to our excessive lawsuits. I'm not sure if they stay on in non-US cars. The 2008 cars kept the DRL on even with the turn signal going. Starting in 2009 they were turned off. You could go in with a VAGcom and change this so that they stayed on. The dealer will not do it, but it is pretty simple with the right hardware. I am guessing that you could probably do this with the 2010 models too.
You can search these forums for VagCom, one of the more common ones used is from http://www.ross-tech.com/ . You will need a Windows PC/Netbook with a USB port.
OK, thanks for the answer Steve. My earlier production R8 kept the DRL's on all the time (which i prefer)
I've got a VAG-COM cable/software at home so I'll be able to hopefully find the right coding. Does anyone have a quick link or can post the coding? Ross-tech wiki doesnt have it posted yet so still searching...
Thanks

My Durango does the same thing, DRL off when turn signal is on. I'll have to keep an eye open to see if other late model vehs do it too, never really paid attention to it. Could be a new law that just came into place or will be in place the next year or two.

On European cars, the DRL stay on all the time.
Found some documentation in the Central Electrics - "Winking" mode can be turned on or off. Nothing specifically for the R8 yet, but well documented in the A5/S5, Q5, forums. May have to wait until car gets here and do some looking around for myself with VAG-COM.

Post #13 in this thread LEDs not turning off while using turn signal has the location for changing the winking. I watched as mine was changed. It was very easy to understand in the menus.
ok, it is a law: S5.5.11(a)(4) of FMVSS No. 108 says that if the turn signal is closer than 100mm to the DRL, the DRL has to be deactivated when the turn is on.
