Is the R8 V8 no longer in production?

Was all set order a new R8 4.2 today (have the $, the desire, and most importantly, the wife approval!), and then spoke to a few dealers in the NY/NJ area today on the phone. They said R8 4.2s are no longer in production.

Is this true? If so, does anyone know for how long and why?

And if so, why is Audi still advertising the 4.2 on the Audi website? The "Build Your R8" webpage is still there.

Dealers - can't live with em, can't live without em. I suspect that they have V10's they want to get rid of, and are hoping you fall for this silliness.

One month ago my V10 order slot came up, but my dealer said I could only get a V8. I'll trade you dealers.

Load of rubbish. The V8 Coupe, V10 Coupe and V10 Spyder are all in production at the moment.

The very latest brochure featuring the Spyder, still lists the V8 Coupe with all the available options and pricing etc.

As I've mentioned in other posts, my dealer was calling me (almost) daily trying to get me to put a $10k deposit on an R8 V10, saying there was a "six month waiting list". Just got a call TODAY (a month later) from the same dealer asking me to come in to see the R8 V10 they just got in (and have no buyers for!), Comical!

Local dealers tried to tell me the same thing in July -- all the while, my V8 was IN production. Received her three weeks ago. Very misinformed group of individuals.

I'm not sure. They said Audi would only allow a V8 for their next allocation. If I had to guess, I would say my dealer has a poor relationship with the regional rep.
