    gt-r expensive repair bill in low speed shunt

    I bumped into tho the white vans tow bar causing this small crack in my bumper...

    Unfortunately it also set off the Pedestrain Saftey system, where the bonnet pops up....

    <snip>

    Then i found out the total cost of the repairs.

    Eleven Thousand Pounds. [circa$18k]

    when you look at the damage that shunt would have done without those pedestrian safety aids it's a bit of a joke really - nissan have built in a "money maximiser" for their parts sales.

    Cool Re: gt-r expensive repair bill in low speed shunt

    WOWEEE ! I have seen many pics of wrecked GTRs at Wrecked exotics .com and this one was MINOR . I have been suspecting that people are under the misconseption that Far Eastern cars are better, more reliable, more ergonomic, better gas mileage, etc.etc. People are coming to their senses real quickly when they get pricing for their parts and repairs.A few more years and we might start buying AMERICAN. Davey doesn't own a single American car that I can see.I can see him in an S7 Saleen though.Maybe a Cobra even.The original Cobras were English bodied !

    Exactly. There is no reason on earth that an ECU should be 'one use'

    And what's with all the posts having a go at randombloke, seems to me he only posted to warn other owners!

    I've not seen those posts, but I really don't understand nissan. they've created a great car at an exceptional price but seem hellbent on shooting themselves in the foot with things like this and the launch control warranty thing which borders on the insane.

    they need to get the same mentality behind the rest of the car ownership as they do the technical side.

    Re: gt-r expensive repair bill in low speed shunt

    Thank goodness for insurance if this story is correct.
    However there are some misnomers around about this car.
    I had read horror stories about service costs but when i had one recently with gearbox fluid replacement the total cost was comparable with my R8.

    no, not me - but it's not unusual for people to round on someone who has a complaint on single car type forums. ti-mike came in for some crap back when he posted about problem with his r8:

    go and get your car checked ASAP
