Compare: V8 vs. V8sc vs. V10

SoCal owners,

We'll have a quattro exclusive V10 arriving next week for some modifications and it has to be seen to be believed: Cherry Black w/Signal Orange blades!

On top of that, we have a stock V8 and a pair of supercharged V8's undergoing bed-in miles before we return them to customers. If anyone would like to compare/contrast the three versions, you are welcome to come by and visit us. We'd be happy to discuss what we can do for YOUR car while you see what we've done for others!

We get enough seat time in various dedicated track R8's that we are less concerned about racing these particular vehicles. With that said, we might be in a position to do a semi-serious extended comparison...

Yes, but that's what all of us want to know. Should we SC, TT, V10, or what.

I know the V8 isn't even in the ball park, but I think just about everyone on here considers one of the other three. If you could just drag race these cars that would be pretty awesome. Vbox would be even better.

I would say that real, dedicated track R8's are the rarest birds in all of North America,.. unless you mean the Audi Experience R8's at Infineon, which I would hardly label as real 'dedicated track; machines.

Besides Bodhii, I know of only one other customer that has a dedicated track car.

Here are the three cars, for your consideration. From left; V8sc, V10, V8.



I have to say that the V8sc has the most grunt, but the V10 is amazingly refined and Audi has made some significant improvements with this model. We have not driven a 2010 V8 model yet, so I cannot say if the changes are across the board.

The new RNS-E is a terrific unit, much improved over the previous model. Faster page renders, higher definition graphics and smoothed fonts make the 2,500 retrofit cost a no-brainer. The car also has the AMI package in it, which is very cool with a little hideaway door to improve the look of the CD-Changer "mouth" that sites behind the console.

The R-Tronic transmission seems to have had some significant improvements made. Comparing this '10 to a late '09 model, it feels very tight and refined. The shifts are crisp and smooth, without the the jerky upchange that customers have gotten used to.

The sound of the V10 is also quite good. Closer to Gallardo w/o being a me-too system.

In summary, I still think the SC is the route to go for existing V8 customers. Low end punch instead of the 4000 RPM roll-on and still has that nice growl that says "I'm all business"...

Could you explain Dedicated? Bodhii says he drives the streets still. Desparado probably has the same amount of track time. I CONSIDER MY r8 A dEDICATED CANYON RUNNER AND NOW i'LL BE LOOKING FOR bODHII TO SEE HOW REALLY FAST HE IS. Sorry Caps locked.
