Would anyone buy a Cat D (minor damage) car (repaired)

I've spotted a 2009 09 reg R8 4.2 in Nogaro Blue with Carbon Blades, engine and interior. Comes with B&O, Mag ride, Sat Nav, camera etc etc and is selling for £62,500.

Problem is its Cat D on rear corner, drivers side. It has been fully repaired by an Audi dealer, all receipts available and to look at it it's perfect but is it worth the cash. The discount seems quite large for age and spec. My intention is to keep it long term so if I'm happy with it then that's all that matters I guess.

Anyone else bought a Cat D and what's your experience.

    Thanks in advance...

If it's been fully repaired there isn't a problem? 2009 R8 for £62.5k seems great.

I think I saw that car before it was repaired. Drivers side blade ripped off etc. The scariest looking damage was that the roof and upper rear wing (near the top of the engine cover) had detached.

It didn't look too bad to me. If its been done right it should be fine, but just because it was an Audi dealer who did it doesn't mean it was done right or they didn't farm out some or all of the work. I'd get an engineers report and personally I'd want it to be cheaper than that.
    Regards, Graham.

The biggest issue is going to be that it is going to be recorded as Cat D when you come to sell it and the next buyer will be wary too, as LL states I would want it to be cheaper too...

looking at the car on autotrader it looks great in that blue - but the price isn't far enough away from the cars that haven't been bent. I'd always have a niggle about the repair and so will other potential buyers down the line given the wide choice of cars out there.

Not on a 60k car.Especially one you canbuy for 60k anyway..ok it will be a 57 plate for that money but I have wouldn't reccomend buying a catd as you will struggle to resell as well.

I would prefer buying the Cat D before repairs. At a much reduced price. And go for all the mods. Body kit for one. I have thought of purchasing a wrecked exotic a few times...after looking at all the wrecks at wrecked exotics.com WilleyJP turned me on to another interesting site: Bringyourtrailer.com

Mine is totally loaded and you can have that for £65K if I decide to pull the trigger on a V10 on Friday.

2008 08, 11K miles with no crash history for £2.5K more? No brainer surely!
