According to Auto Express sources, Audi is seriously considering a new supercar to sit above the acclaimed R8. It’s set to share the chassis of the forthcoming Lamborghini Murciélago replacement.

Do what i do, just do it & then tell her...

She always loved the R8's i had, however, when i turned up in the Maserati ( she heard me coming a mile away! not good ) she went mad, & asked why didnt you tell me you sold the R8, anyways, she never saw the Maser as a car of my dreams, only a conservatory she never had.

Still, just dont tell her, and me, she's happy i have sold the Maser and waiting for the Spyder, she thinks its the right thing to do, i just havent told her its going to cost another £50k to upgrade to it!

Guess home improvements will have to wait

I think it may be brighter if they DO! I'd have grabbed a roadster in a HEARTBEAT if it looked anything like the R8. If they make an R8 that has performance >= the Tesla Roadster I'll grab it.

Yep, Lamborghini and Porsche divisions can't be too excited.

The R10 will also be wider and longer than the R8, while four-wheel drive ensures it’s firmly planted on the road. Power is expected to come from a turbocharged 5.0-litre V10 with up to 600bhp – that would give 0-60mph in just over three seconds.

If Heffner is trying to get something like 550 out of a TT V8, surely they can get more from a turbocharged V10? 0-60 in just over 3 seconds though? Sheesh.

They were getting well over 600 (they said like 630ish) at the crank. The mid 500's were at the wheels. Most manufactures publish the crank values because they are higher. Dependability, drivability, safety and regulations are also more important to production cars, so I would expect lower numbers from them.

I highly doubt this will sit above the R8. If anything, it would replace it. If you think 2012/2013, thats a 5-6 lifespan of the R8, which is probably about right.

If the look is going to be that radically different, I think it would serve well as a different car. Sort of like the Murcielago to the Gallardo
