    Gearbox malfunction

    Hi there,

I know search is my friend but have reviewed number of topics and still no solution.

The problem occurred in following circumstances: I’ve drieved in to my my parking slot and left the ignition on for round 20 min. Than I’ve tried to engage the reverse gear. I pulled the shift knob down and R sign appeared on the dash board. After I started to accelerate the car didn’t move. I revved but all in vain. Than the error message came up: gearbox malfunction … I switched the R off to N and tried to re-engage R again. After I accelerated gently the car jumped really intensively backwards and stalled the engine. Then I faced the same with A1 mode… !

I switched the ignition off and on again – but nothing changed…

I switched off again and fired the engine in 10 minutes. Everything was fine this time.
    That is kinda frustrating.

The vehicle is still under the warranty. Actual millage is 26 000km.

    Any experience in my case?!

    Regards,

Houston, you have a problem - take it to the dealer and get them to sort! It's definitely not you causing this I believe?

    Not Huston, - Moscow

The vehicle is at the dealer already. But don’t expect too much from them to be honest.

If you left the ignition on for 20 minutes you may have taken the edge off the battery enough to confuse the computers. Take it for a long drive or better still charge the battery over night.

    Re: Gearbox malfunction

Anyone else feel a "could not replicate issue" coming? I've had something similar in the M6. Once in awhile i'll be at a stop and suddenly; somebody hits me! But it's not someone hitting me it's the gearbox dropping it into gear all of a sudden it's a sudden jerk like someone just hit me. Sounds like you had something similr but for reverse gear. When the dealer says nothing is wrong (and he will) I'd try to ignore it for now until it becomes a real problem.

Yep, items that only happen once or even once in a great while are real hard to identify. I would not be surprised if you get the generic answer "We found nothing wrong, take it and drive it. Bring it back if it happens again"

    Re: Gearbox malfunction

I want them to sort out the issue asap cause the 2-year-warrany period expires in 5 month, which are mostly winter in Russia and I have to chance to test the car...

The car is at the dealership already. They've told me they have an idea

    Keep you updated!
