24R4 Recall

Just got my car back from the dealer (C/F bits fitted, 9000 mile service, 2 new rear tyres[1 nail] and this recall) and I don't what this recall s/w update was, but the R-Tronic is very smooth now...

Hi Ian, I've just been contacted by Audi to carry out the following campaigns.

24R4 ECU software update , Engine Knock sensor and gearbox shifter update.
37E1 Replace gear detector sensor
20P7 Replace retainer filler cap

Any idea what the 37E1 is about...

Also you were satisfied with the 24R4 so no negatives since it was done.

No idea what 37E1 does but, no qualms on 24R4, transformed R-Tronic on my early 09 car...

Since R84ME had his flash reversed...I may try the 24R4, and if it is good,,, great. If not good I can have it reversed. The update is to engine fuel delivery system. Funny it could affect the R-Tronics behavior as much as Ian experienced. Still waiting to see Ians car with his new bits and pieces.

Pics of your car in general, but especially the cf bits and the pieces of wrap on roof. Your,steering column received treatment too?? It IS hard to stay apprised of the cf KINGs' actions !! You probably have one of the NICEST EQUIPPED white R 8s on this planet. There is a really nice white R 8 over on... LOL \"/ (smiling)

No idea what 37E1 does but, no qualms on 24R4, transformed R-Tronic on my early 09 car...

37E1 is the replacing the gear position sensors and there wiring plugs/contacts for one`s with Gold contacts to avoid contact resistance issues experienced on some R Tronics.

Any body had 24R4 on a manual carried out? Have you got a flat spot in 3rd gear at 30 mph when the throttle is floored??

I have driven R-Tronic cars with the 24R4 recall done and they are INCREDIBLE compared to the old software. All 2010 cars come with it, which is where we first felt it...

No experience w/6-speed cars.

The dealer only mentioned the 24F3 update that R84ME so detested. I'll ask about the 24R4 next dealer visit. I want one too. And will look into the 37E1 while I'm at it. Thanx for the heads up.
