    R-Tronic clutch question

    Hi all.

I know the R-Tronic transmission used one clutch but is it a single or multi-plate clutch unit ?
    Regards, Graham.

I can't find a technical description but in the Bentley pics it looks like 1.
    Best Regards, Ian

    Re: R-Tronic clutch question

Only thing i've read is someone on yahoo asking the difference between R-Tronic and BMW's SMG, and people saying R-Tronic is single-clutch and SMG is dual-clutch.

    Re: R-Tronic clutch question

I understand R-tronic has one clutch, what I am asking is has that one clutch got one plate or more than one plate.

Thanks Ian, I'm sure you would be able to see it in Bentley if it was multi plate.
    Regards, Graham.

    Re: R-Tronic clutch question

I've got an SMG in an M6. It is certainly NOT dual clutch. The new M3 has a dual clutch but not the SMG in the M6.

That is irrelevant. We know it isnt dual clutch. We were discussing how many plates it has.

Everything time I post to answer questions I'll post something I've read either on here or somewhere else, if it's wrong I get told
