    Winter Storage :(

I have put my R8 into storage. I hope we have a short warm winter in Minnesota. Go global warming.

Does anyone know if our R8's come with an immobilizer or how I can monitor the car while in storage?

Can't answer your question re immobilizer, but did want to say that misery loves company. I am a few hours north of you and am looking outside where there is a bit of snow on the ground now. I may have had my last R8 ride for a while too, as by the looks of things mine is going into storage next week. In my case, I see it every day when I go out, and it can taunt me sitting there all quiet and menacing

I'd get a live gps tracking device if your storage is far away from your home.

http://gpstrackit.com/ (asset monitoring in this case)

We used gpstrackit for our construction vehicles and it was great. One of them was stolen: call the cops, went online to see where it was and that's it.

I hear you!! I just picked up my car, and I've had it for 4 days now. I'm assuming once I get it registered (in a week) that it will need to be winterized.

Oh well, atleast i'll have fun with it come the spring.

I would also use something like the flat stoppers to prevent potential wheel deformation or tire deflation. Perfect for long storage period.

    r1lee,
Last year I had my car for three days before I had to put it into storage. I stored it in my unheated garage at my house (very deep garage). Every day I would see it. Now I am storing it in a heated garage 15 miles away. I will go by and visit it when I am going through R8 withdrawal.

HovyR8, I have requested pricing and installation information from GPStrackit. I already have the flatstoppers.

    Thank you for the assistance.

If your putting it in storage I'd go and check it regularly, I've had bad experience with storing cars Had 5 Rolls Royce sold for only £15k each using fake signatures and fake log books, the idiot had the addresses of the people who bought them written down so police were able to get them back

Uh huh. Me too. They were next to my fleet of 747's. Couldn't believe they took my x-wing fighter too. Right before I was going to go to Hoth for a ski trip.

Any reason why you're moving it somewhere else to store?

Hey man - thanks for sharing, as this must have been hugely traumatic for you. Takes a real man to own up and admit that he messed up like this. You are lucky the thieves didn't crash your plane and sue you for making it too easy to steal. That happened to me when some idiot stole one of my gunships, and accidentally fired a rocket launcher into a herd of prime Angus cattle. Frikken cow parts everywhere. I'm still paying for that one.
