Thumbs down Problem with Magnetic Ride Control

    Dear All,

After the diagnostics performed by dealer I’ve got the information that 3 of 4 magnetic shock absorbers are out of order (leak found).

According the information I’ve got the shock absorbers have limited warranty (6 month or 10 000km).

And the most interesting is cost: 10 000 Euro for 4 shock absorbers…
Are they crazy or I am?!

Any warranty or goodwill experience in this case?!

P.S.: R8 appears to be not the most robust vehicle I’ve ever seen. In my case 1 year 25 000km caused:
    1. Four absorbers to be exchanged 10 000Euro
    2. Gearbox malfunction 15 000Euro
    3. Lacquer problems (door seals) ???
    4. Headlamp mist 8 000Euro

    WTF!?!!!

Where are you located? How many miles are on your vehicle? I thought everything was covered with Audi care up to 40,000 miles. 33,000 euros of maintenance is nuts. All of the items listed in your post should be covered by warranty!

You have the option of using a different shock/spring set-up, which you can probably suggest to the rest of the MOB .You will dig it ! No worries mate/comrad.

My car was delivered by the dealer with a bad shock. The suspension warning light came on two hours after leaving the dealer.

I also had to have a leaking steering rack replaced at under 17,000 miles.

Smile Re: Problem with Magnetic Ride Control

I have no more grounding since I learned the extreme turning in technique at driveways.I think if I am even MORE careful, I could handle 1/2 inch up front and 3/4 in rear. Not much but enough to get rid of the ugly space between fender and tire. Clearly a BIMMER trick. I have noticed that most BMW cars (around me)have been lowered to the LIMIT. A business card barely fits between fender and tire--yet, no rubbing.
