Which US Insurance company do you use?

I know this topic has been covered but the posts were old and I wanted to see if anyone has any new info. My R8 policy is renewing in January with no rise in premium. Im in NY, 20+ years driving with a clean record. I have STATED VALUE coverage with a $140,000 value, not Actual Cash Value (ACV) Its $2350/year with a $2500 deductible. I dont think Im getting hammered but it's not the deal of the year, either. The insurer is Hagerty. ACV vs Stated value can create large differences in premium. An ACV policy on a car like this is asking for trouble, in my opinion.

Im sure many pay less and some pay more. The regional differences in pricing of coverage can be substantial and the ACV vs. stated value creates large swings, too. I'm trying to see who I would attempt to quote it with and put together a list. If you would share the name of the company you have, the state you're in and the premium (if you care to share)... it would be a great resource for me, others on the site and future owners

    Thanks

I pay less than 50.00 per month----But I am my own agent. I represent INFINITY PLUS Insurance co. I am only liscensed in California at this moment. Try Infinities' Classic program, That is, IF they write in N.Y. A stated value pol. is in your best interests. Headquarters is in Birmingham Alabama. In cali Most of my Classic policyholders have come over to me from Haggerties. With Infinity you will have a ZERO deductible. The veh. must be kept under lock and key and NOT be in a single car household. I hope this helps.(probably pisses some off!)

Re: Which US Insurance company do you use?

This is a very tricky question.

Living in London, I decided to take advantage of London -- the largest insurance market in the world.

When I bought my R8, I got quotes in the £2500-3500 range even from my current insurance company -- £3000 and I never made a claim with them in 7 yrs !

    So what did I do?

Working in the markets has taught me something -- so I decided to get a broker and float my contract at Lloyds global insurance market -- the biggest on the planet. (You know that funny building ....)

Got my contract filled 1 day later at £1000 !(USD 1600) -- with the premium paid in 3 installments on my credit card. It all depends on the insurance company liquidity (cash) needs on the day -- if the company needs extra cash they will take a punt, often much lower than for their own customers.

As its a GLOBAL exchange, I recommend getting your US broker to float your contract on the Lloyds exchange and see which company takes the fish food.

Its then up to you to decide if the company that accepts it is reliable enough to sort you out in your hour of need. Needless to say, go with the big names.

I pay $465 every six months with $1,000 deductible. While in storage the cost is $122 every six months. I use State Farm and have a stated value of $153K. I insure three other cars and have had two claims (less than $2500 each) in 35 years.

I would guess so, I haven't got the papers tho so can't say for sure. Houses were insured for 10 years so maybe they'll be the same But I was only talking about the R8

NY is a tough insurance state. We have the 2nd highest rates in the country by most estimates... second only behind NJ, the most densely populated state in the US. Infinity Plus is not doing business in NY. Mngolfer (Don), its one of the many benefits of living in Minnesota I'm sure, under $1000/year is great. State Farm won't touch the R8 in NY.

There is a company named Leland West which handles classic cars and high value autos but they explicitly exclude ANY travel for business including going to and from work. If you have an accident in the middle of the week wearing a suit and they can determine you were working, they will disclaim it.

    The Saga continues...

Re: Which US Insurance company do you use?

I pay £485 P/A with a £350 excess (deductible) for myself as main driver and my GF as occasional driver. However I am 51 with 32 years claim free and live in a very low crime post code.

Edit: Sorry, just re read and noticed you were asking about the US.
    Regards, Graham.

I find it even more interesting, to hear what R8s in other countries are charged. New Thread?
