In America there is something called redlining/demographics. Young Males get charged the most. REGARDLESS. There are a FEW crazy chick-drivers too . But Girls get charged much less. In some cases the insurance cost can exeed the cost of the car. So I always tell people to inquire about insurance BEFORE buying the car. Just to avoid a cardiac arrest! Give my secretaries a jingle and they'd be happy to assist you. Let's hear your Horror/Pleasant Insurance R8 rate. Pun intended.

I pay around $2800 CDN. A big chunk of this is to insure for full replacement value which believe it or not is an option that you can decline.

Mine is $5000 for both deductables. Cost is $2300 for the year with group insurance and I have 4 speeding tickets to go with that. Hopefully it will come down after they expire.

£485 with £350 excess (deductable) for myself and my GF as an occasional driver.

We have two other cars insured with the same company. I have some specialist on road driver training and we are both over 50 with long no claims history and clean licences but I think it's our low crime post code that gets us the great deal.

I pay about a $1,050 U.S. One way I found to save is carry $1,000 deductible instead of the standard $500. Because of my umbrella policy I also have to have a min $250000/$500000 liability on car. Really helps that my last driving violation was over 20 years ago.

It was:

£589.10, excess of £1000, with 'Extra Road Rage' cover. I think that means a very very violent road rage attack rather than just the normal.


Its now:

£1353.04, excess of £1750, with 4 track days (excess of 10% of vehicle value for this).

Glasgow is really where it tends to get a bit rough. They ran a PR campaign about the city a few years ago with the slogan 'Glasgow's miles better' which was a play on the Glasgow 'Smile', which is basically a razor slit from ear to ear via the mouth
