How much do you think custom interior effects resale?

I am considering some of the custom interior options, and even a pretty basic color package with add about 5k to the price. I'm not sure I can justify that much money just to tie the Tuscan Brown seats in with the interior a little better.

Unlike me, many of you have had several cars in this price range. Assuming it is a combination that would not turn many away, does anyone think a custom factory interior adds to the resale value significantly?

Probably not. A customized, special order interior is a very personal thing. If you find another individual with similar likes/dislikes when you sell the car, you may recover some of the expense, but odds are you won't hook up. I guess it really depends how long you keep it on the market to find Mr./Mrs. right.

Its a taylor made thing and you will not get a penny more from the dealer when you part ex, if your taste is similar to a private buyers it may make it easier to sell but i dont think you will get your money back, in fact, if your taste is not the buyers taste it may cost you..

But, what the hell, you dont buy a Jasper Littman suit from Savile Row thinking about if you will get your money back, you buy it because you want it! i say go for it, but then i would!

I agree with R84ME, Definitely not, if you are not careful it could even detract significantly from the residual value, don't do it for RV do it because you want the look....

Ya, I figured as much. Still, Russman's car looks so **** nice I think he might get some of that back when he sells it.

Edit: Heh, I didn't know you couldn't say "darn" in here.

You will not get any more money from a dealer, and could even hurt resale value in a private sale if the buyer doesn't like or appreciate your choice. For example, I would never order or buy an R8 with brown interior, no matter how good the deal. It just does not appeal to my eye. I much prefer black.

On the other hand, I wasted tons of money on every carbon option, and I'll never get that back. It's what I wanted however. Get what you want, and forget about RV. Enjoy your choice.

I agree Russman's interior is really nice...

Mine will be the same but Luxor Beige and just a slight bit more leather (on the steering wheel etc) I think.

I also agree with everyone telling you not to think about resale value, think about what you want and get that.

To echo the others, buy it because you want it. The resale most likely won't be there...

Re: How much do you think custom interior effects resale?

I pretty much figured the extra $ I spent with Audi Exclusive is money lost. When it comes to resale, the car will be valued on year, condition, and miles. I knew this going into the process, but I wanted what I wanted and certainly will not expect anything extra in value. Hopefully it wont detract from the value, but that is certainly a possibility as well.

There is no option on a car which improves resale value. There is, in fact, no part of a used car that is worth more later than it was when it was new.
