    Another R8 v. Porsche question

Hi All: Have my eye on an R8 5.2. If i pick it up the GT3 RS will have to go. I get to the track rarely yet even on the street, the car is a real blast to drive. Really a race car for the street. I have a Maserati Gran Turismo S with the F1 transmission from the F430 as well. I am looking for something in between. Will the Audi fit the bill? Thanks for all your input.

Yes. If you check out various threads on this site, the R8 V8 or V10 is the best "all rounder", and exceptional as a daily driver.

I traded my RS off, kept the R8. Never miss the RS.

Must agree with Bluehinder, thought my RS4 was a easy daily drive but the R8 is even easier to live with the cabin seems much more airy and spacious than the RS and at present have been using mine in the snow something that is quite hard to do with a 2 wheel drive Porker.

    rahul,

I personally think you will not be happy will just the 4.2 What I mean is I myself had a 07 gt3rs and bought a 09 4.2 R8, but thought it needed more hp. I keep both for a year and when I wanted a real rush I would get the gt3 out when I wanted a dinner drive or Sunday drive the R8 was the pick. If I wanted one car to fill both shoes it would have to be the 5.2 hands down.my .02

I went from a blazing fast Carrera 6MT to the 2010 R8 4.2 6MT. I feel that the Porsche would wear the R8 out on the bottom end, but all around, the R8 just feels more complete and overall more satisfying -- about 15-20% better performing in all stages of the rev range. I think the R8's refinement creates a certain sense of isolation that the Porsche didn't have, which is good and bad. But, the turbine-esque smoothness of the
R8 coupled with the transmission whine is sublime. I do miss the absence of storage space (so much less than the Porsche), and this year's holiday travel (sans presents this time) is going to be a challenge. But, I can't say enough good things about the R8, and I'm quick to find the bad.

Hey bud, make sure you drive both tranny versions. The F1 version is extremely sophisticated for a single clutch set up.
