Another question for the insurance gurus

What happens to your insurance if you participate in a "timed motorsports event"? Doing so voids my insurance.

This link references a few insurance companies handling track events. Not sure about the "timed" events though.

Thumbs down Re: Another question for the insurance gurus

You have to ask the right questions because the agent does'nt even know sometimes. Who reads the fine print these days? Stricter and stricter rules everyday. In the old days everything was covered without much questioning. Then a thing called FRAUD was invented...now we are all screwed to the rafters.

Isn't fraud just as old as that "other" profession?

They began with excluding timed events. So, the car guys began calling them untimed events. Then, the exclusion grew to include timed and untimed events. So, the car guys called them "education days" or "instrucional days" like a high end drivers ed. Now the policies exclude any activity on a track of any kind... timed, untimed, educational, anything!

What do you guys do for track days? I never worried about it in my S4, but I didn't know I wasn't covered.

Cover your plate # and report any claim as having happened elsewhere. A momentary lapse , amnesia. You don't want to go to jail for fraud. Just keep the damage minimal and pay out of pocket.Think of it as a high deductible.
