I'm going to look at a used 2008 R8 today. Besides the normal things you look at when buying a used vehicle, is there anything in particular to look for in the R8? TIA

Nothing I can think of. I can't really think of anything that routinely breaks on the car. Maybe the seat-wear?![]()

If you're buying from an Audi dealer then no worries at all. You have warranty to at least 2011 (you do not say which country you are in!).
I got mine at a year old and 9000 miles - it's been wonderful!!! Go for it!
Not sure where your located but would suggest magnetic ride as a must if its a option in your country.
Agree with outsider that seat wear on Nappa leather can sometimes be something to watch out for.

I always look for documented oil changes every 5k as it shows the owner really cared for his car.
Also, no paintwork, anywhere.

I do it on my daily drivers. Every year on the cars that get driven less often.
I doubt many do it. But if any car hasn't had it done at least annually, I think that raises a red flag.
I should mention that part of my business includes a 15 bay shop, so I just have my guys do the oil. (But not, obviously, on the cgt or 16M)

Mine requests a change approximately every 5K. Good call on that one.
The more documentation of the car's life you can get, the better.
Agree on the magnetic ride. Great option to have.
If you've not driven the R-tronic, do so. Those that have it love it, those of us that play with the 6 speed seem to be fence walkers on if we'd take it on a next car. I would not, but I didn't give the R-tronic a fair chance either, so I can't be subjective on which way to go.
The leather on the left side of my driver's seat, on the lumbar support, has worn almost completely through. I drive with my seat fairly far forward, so I tend to drag my butt across it when I get in.

Thanks for all of the feedback, it's much appreciated. I'm located in southern California, and the car is for sale by Audi dealer. However they said it is not an Audi certified pre-owned vehicle, they aren't equipped properly to give the certification. I would only be purchasing there and having it serviced near my home. The fact that it's not certified is my only issue. It does have 4 years left on the factory warranty though.
