My Christmas Present To Myself

I picked up the car yesterday, but it was a bit late in the day to take any photos (I know how important it is to get photos up, lol), so I snapped a few with my pocket digital this morning on my way into the office.

It's an '09, with just a bit over 7,800 km on the clock (that's about 4,900 miles for our American friends). So far, I'm quite enjoying it, and although it doesn't have the insane roar of the AMG engine, the R8 definitely has a character all its own. With the C63, it felt like I was a kid again. It's a real hooligan's car (in a nice way). But the R8 makes me feel all grown up again, which means I have to act my age, not that I'm complaining.

Just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone on R8Talk for all the fantastic info that can be obtained about the car. It really helps a prospective buyer get a better feel for the car even before stepping into the showroom. Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

I am a bit biased as I have the same colour combo and wheels on my car

I know some of the US guys look for ways of blanking out the indicator repeaters but I think they look OK where they are positioned on the R8.

Even the Canadian bumper overrider, that look a bit strange in a close up pic, look OK when the car is viewed as a whole.

I actually don't mind those two little tumours on the bumper. And Ice Silver on the R8 makes it look like it was hewn from a single aluminium ingot.

Funny thing about seeing your name in your postings is I was just watching The Holiday last night on cable TV with my wife and Jude Law's London-based character is also named Graham.

Beautiful car, and beautiful pictures. Sunrise light is truly very different somehow from Sunset light....less moisture in the air maybe? Too bad it's usually only available to early risers. But this time of year, esp at Lat. 50, you don't have to get up so early!

Nice shot of Mt. Baker in the far distance complementing the icy good looks of your car. Makes me think we really do have to have a NW R8 Rendezvous somewhere up here in God's Country (apologies to the Calif. guys) where there will be lots of photo ops with scenery that equals our cars. Check out your local Audi Club NA group so we can all be plugged into the same info source. Welcome to the R8 fraternity!

Thanks, folks. The weather's clearing up nicely today in fact, so I might just go out and enjoy an afternoon drive after lunch. Maybe take a few more photos on my little Canon Ixus.
