Can't help wondering if the 4.2 would have done even better if they had used the R-Tronic.

was interesting that the v8 was faster than the v10 (and gallardo come to that) on the time attack part of the results which come just after the battle result (7:04): 1:03:885 vs 1:04:872. I was also surprised that the v8 wasn't completely trounced by the gtr/gallardo

And let's not forget that the GT-R is modified by Shadow Tuning, and includes many lighter-weight replacement parts as well as a bigger rear wing and diffuser, plus other aerodynamic aids to help cool the engine and brakes.

I am a proud Poppy of a 4.2. Too bad the 4.2 racing wasn't an R-tronik-for better results.

That makes sense since it faded so fast and was never really in the running after that. Pretty interesting results overall. It looks like the track is lacking any really long straightaways that would allow the Gallardo to pull away.

Yes, Tsukuba is a very short track (anybody who grew up with a PlayStation and Gran Turismo will have "driven" it hundreds of times) that takes away some of the advantage you'd expect the high-powered cars to have. It's a track that favours the more "balanced" cars, I believe.

R8 4.2 did a great job.

Loved a couple of it's mid corner drifts at speed.
