Angry Audi R8 Manufacturing Fault Beware

I have an Audi R8 2007 which I have had for over 2 years with 30k on the clock now. The car has had problems with warped brake discs for the last year, Juddering when braking . I have paid once for their replacement and Audi have paid twice however the problem is still there. Now audi want me to pay for the replacement of all 4 wheels however they cannot tell me whats wrong with the original wheels and they have even commented on past paperwork the the wheels are true and are not causing the juddering.
First and last time I buy an audi , Audi have no idea what the problem is , I have been without my car now for 2 months and am 3k out of pocket with a further 2k if I change the wheels.dont be surprised if other Audi owners suffer the same problem once the car has 25 to 30k miles.I am currently seeking legal advice. bobby 07887564784

Sounds like a long history here, did you have the car from new, do you track it. Do Audi UK (looks like a UK cell phone number) agree you have a problem or are they disputing it?

Could they not put on a new set of wheels to prove that IS the problem very easily? Who is the dealer, and have you spoken to the Specialist R8 team in the UK?

    More info please.
    Best Regards, Ian

Ridiculous. If the problem is with the wheels (all 4 simultaneously? Give me a break), they wouldn't "judder" only when braking. Either the dealership is immensely incompetent, or it's welcome back, Davey Dee.

Could they not just throw the wheels on a balancing machine to see if they are the problem? Something sounds funny here

Seems strange that they are making you come out of pocket at all... first I have heard of this issue, btw.

wouldn't all this be under warranty? Did Audi release 2007 models over the pond?.. if not, maybe you got a pre-production model and that's why they are telling you to pay for it.

Re: Audi R8 Manufacturing Fault Beware

    Hi Bobby,

I'm wondering if this problem relates to the right side rotors (discs) being vented the wrong direction. This was discussed in one of the threads about regularly tracking the R8. I took a close look at these rotors on my friend's car and the hats have an arrow running both directions. I find this very strange but it seems like not many people have made to complaint to Audi. Likewise I wonder if any Lamborghini LP-560-4 owners have noticed the same problem. BTW, my Maserati has the left rotors on the right side as well but I can't make any comparisons as the Maserati brakes suck anyways.

As mentioned by Smoothy you should have your Audi dealer run all four wheels on the balance machine. If the wheels are balanced you can demand they look elsewhere and get the problem solved internally.

Just to mention, my friend's R8 is a 2007 model and tracks it about 5 to 6 times a year. He has not encountered any problems but has already changed his front rotors. In the future if I have to change the front rotors I will likely go with a set of Brembo floating rotors. I use the Brembo J-groove front rotors on my GT3 and they are the best I've used on that car.

Anyways, hope this helps in some way and the best of luck and hope you stick it to your dealer.

    Regards,
    Edwin

I had a "juddering" problem on my A8L. I replaced the front two rotors and the problem was solved for two weeks. I took the car back. They checked and the rotors were warped again. They replaced them free and have been working perfect for over 10K miles.
