Software versions on R Tronic

Is there any way to find out through the R8 MMI what verion of software the RTronic gearbox is running?
And does anyone know what the latest R Tronic software is? And if it's an improvement?

I can't help re the MMI but I think it displays on my OBD reader (Snap-on Solus pro) but I have lent it to a friend so I can't check at the moment.

Mac, please specify v8 or v10.You'd think the software would be different for each.And that there would be R-tronik updates for older v8s.Answered my own question didn't I?

I think you did Yep it's a V8, registered in UK second half of 2007

Was there an update to the software? I heard some owners got the update and noted improvement with the Rtronic...when I asked the service rep he denied any such update (mine is a 2009 built late 2008). Was there a TSB or is there a specific update I need to have them look up...seems like I 'm the one who has to bring these things up with my dealer

I drove a brand new V8 in October and a just delivered V10 last week. The V10 software is better (smoother), although it still wants to upshift too soon in auto mode. I also had a moment where I stabbed the throttle in auto mode to force a downshift, but decided against it and immediately backed off. The software got lost on that one and held the clutch in for a couple heartbeats before engaging with a bang.

Very true. In fact, when I started my research on the R8, numerous car magazines said the R-tronic is balky and rough, but I've found it quite smooth and certainly more than acceptable. This is probably because I drive it in Manual mode.
