Engine hesitation at 3k revs in 3rd gear?

    Hi all
Has anybody else notice a flat spot/hesitation in the third gear around 3k revs if you floor the accelerator? It almost feel like turbo lag, and I’ve only noticed it since I had the latest engingin management software updates from my local Audi centre?

I've noticed something along those lines of what you've described, but more so in 4th gear and especially when I'm not at WOT (wide open throttle). My car has also had the ECU updates and what not.

Apparently you "get" a nice flatspot... ?

I've noticed a problem like this for about a week now. I have a 2010 4.2. It's happened three times, on two separate tanks of gas, in one week. It happened today at WOT at about 40 mph, around 3rd gear, when pulling hard away from an intersection. I mashed the pedal to the floor after up-shifting, nothing happened, and then the throttle "caught up" to my pedal input and the car lurched ahead. I do have the Sprintbooster, but cannot imagine this being the cause.

It may just be time for you to start turning off the traction controll. Having it on will make your car stumble when you really nail it. I have only recently started turning it offf as part of my DD experience. T.C. off, sport mode, mag ride on, manual gear selecting. The perfect driving experience. \"/

Yeah, maybe; but it wasn't a traction control type issue. It was definately a feeling like the "linkage" between the engine and the pedal was momentarily "broken." Almost like the engine was completely bogged down. Or, maybe a better way to describe it, like running the 400, momentarily looking into the stands to see who's watching and not realizing you've slowed down, then looking back up front to the pack and realizing you've fallen 30 feet behind, and then hightailing it to catch up.

Engine definitely feels less eager after the 24r4 update. Agree, it seems to be to do with the accelerator pedal. Less gruff and noisy but much smoother. Good or bad?

I have it very good authority that Audi have changed the ignition timing of the car with the software update, this stops the cold start blue smoke that sometimes occurs and also lowers the emissions, however it has created a power flat spot particularly noticeable in 3rd gear in all vehicles with the update. Audi now say this is a characteristic of the vehicle?! which the always do when someone complains about a fault!!! Nice!

Not a characteristic of my vehicle, a US phenomenon with the dodgy gas?
