    new owner

picked it up yesterday. all black 5.2 . 200 mile ride home from dealership, great fun. Few questions: Brakes squeaking when car almost stopped, will that go away with break in perioid? Also, have trouble at times engaging 1st gear, have other owners noticed problem?

    Thanks
    Jeff

    Congrats on the purchase Jeff!

We have not experienced the brake squeal issue, even on 00 miles cars. Give it some time and see if it persists. If so, chat up your dealer.

Please specify if you have R-Tronic or 6sp for the gear engagement issue.

Also, where are located? Can you put that in your profile??

Live in rehoboth Beach DE, bought the six speed manual. Sometimes will half engage in first gear, stick prtrotests and grinds, push harder into gear slot

My brakes squealed for a while as well, but only when applying light pressure. Luckily that seems to have gone away. Did not have the first gear problem.

Have you tried putting it in 2nd gear first, and then into first gear? I get that issue with the Porsche and this technique always helps it snick right into first gear.

If it "grinds" are you sure that you have the clutch pedal depressed sufficiently? If you are then you may have a "sticky" clutch plate which is not releasing fully.

My brakes squealed really bad for the first month. After that time the squeal went away. Talk to your dealer. They have a technique to eliminate the squeal. The only problem is it does not work with every car. Time is the only thing that worked for me. Do a search on squealing brakes. There are many comments.

Wouldn't that imply that the synchro rings are weak or the clutch is dragging slightly?

Grind a pound off for me !- Not a funny trucker joke. It seems a little squeek is normal. Mine only got the little slow down squeek after some HARD TRACKING. So you could say my squeek was self induced. \%/

    Re: new owner

i just drove the car today after abouy 1 1/2 months of it being stored. The brakes squealed also when it came to a complete stop. So I'm assuming this is normal after an extended time of sitting there. Even when I came home (about 5 miles of driving) it was still doing the same.
