    leather seats

My car is 2 years old and done 12k miles, the seats look like they have been in a car that has done 90k miles. There is worn patches on the right side bolster of the drivers seat and on the front of the passenger seat (I have maybe carried passenegrs 5-6 times in total) the drivers seat has been like this since 4k miles.
I have just spoken to audi stockport and told them I am unhappy, they have booked the car in to look at it.

Anyone else had any experience of this and Audi Uk's attitude and how they solve the issue ?

    Too many big arses maybe?

Seriously though, the quality of leather on many cars leaves a lot to be desired and so regular maintenance (feeding) is the way to minimise issues.

The BIG question is? Do you have the "Enhanced" premium leather package ?? I am glad I do because on a track day with instructor, you are constantly trading places, jumping in and out, and with not as much care as normal. Rough Riders. And lucky I ditched my big ARSE GF right before the R8 arrived. Seats still look great and no wet stains. \"/

I norish them with autoglyn leather care cream ,I am very meticulous with my cars.I recall that there are other son here who have found similar problems, just spoke to a guy with a TT and they replaced his seats completely after a similar problem.
Even if I did not look after the seats ,the level of wear is unacceptable.

Not good at all in that case. Mine have done 12K miles now and still look pretty much like new!

I just traded in a 2008 R8 with 17K miles. Both seats had excessive wear on the outside of the high point of the bolsters (meaning the part of the bolsters facing the doors just past the vertical stitch line), although nowhere else on the seats. What was particularly odd was that the passenger seat bolster showed identical wear to the driver seat although the passenger seat was very seldom used.

This wasn't just the shine and creasing that leather gets with aging and rubbing. It was serious scuffing off of the leather finish and pilling of the underlying leather.

I recently sold my Mercedes SL55. It had very prominent bolsters, and at 5 years and 35K it had no visible wear anywhere on the leather.

I just ordered a new V10 and was hoping that Audi has addressed this problem in the intervening two years.

    Re: leather seats

Being a fat bas**rd I am quite hard on seat leather.

I have never had a Mercedes seat show any seat wear at all but I got a wear patch in the position you are describing on an old shape BMW X5 and on a LR D3, both in less than a year.

The R8 still looks new but I have got next to no mileage on it yet.

I think it's caused but sliding in over the outer edge of the thigh support. I can't see any other way to get in an R8 though.

    Re: leather seats

There have been other threads about seat wear.
Drivers' seat side bolster stitching - ?

The leather is pretty thin and does wear poorly. People that rub on the bolster when getting in or out do have issues with wear. The front side edge also gets a lot of wear.

Keeping the leather well nourished will help prevent a lot with wrinkles or stretch marks. Also, getting in and out carefully is important. When I climb in/out I limit the rubbing on the seats and support myself from the door sill, steering wheel and or the door/glass. It also helps a lot if you can open the door to the second or third stop. The first one makes it a bit more work to get in/out. The clothing worn does make a difference too.
