Noise while changing the gear

Hi guyz

glad to join this forum
I just bought a used R8 2008 model R-Tronic

however it feels strange while changing the gear from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3
I hear a noise beneth the car from the gear box

This only occures if the gear changes while driving on less than 1500 or 2000 rpm in auto or M

even if it was on N and I put it on A i hear the noise


The owner told me that he got the message of gear malfunction twice and it went away after stopping the car


any ideas ?

my friends told me its a common thing with 2008 model !

Nope,no issue like that.When I am parked and engine shut down,car asks to be put in reverse for safety.I can hear a faint click when she goes into R. That's all folks!!

Welcome. Hope you really enjoy the car.

Why are you shifting at such a low rpm? The simple solution seems to be pretty straight forward. Let the RPM get a little higher before shifting. But, I would have an Audi service department look at it, to be safe. Be very specific and take them for a test drive if necessary.

ive taken the car today

and the checked it and told me nothing major

but they have to change some sort of a sensor in the gear

any ideas?

Same from mine.

That is the selector putting it into gear and is normal - I'd be more worried if I didn't hear it ;-)

Agreed ... I was not flagging it as a problem but simply an observation.

Assumed that mate, I was replying to Harry's post really :-)

I've noticed on some other (poorer) sites they have a newbie section pinned so when you join it's the first thing you see, perhaps the admins could create?
