I see that one of these jerks has a gmail account. Anyone know if Google has a way to report spam abuse? One way to strike back would be to get their account shut down.
Well, the only effective method so far has been to moderate new registrations and we will go back to that, effective today.
There are various tools in place to eliminate the spam-bots, but individuals can slip through, particularly with Gmail accounts.
We keep working to eliminate them on a daily basis.
BTW - A big THANKS to all of you that take the time to report spam posts. It helps to make our battle a little easier.

it's a numbers game for them - they just go out and spam as many forums as they can scattergun style. they won't read what you've posted nor care if this is one of the forums they don't get a return from.Do you really think forum members will EVER!!!!! buy something from your postings.
all we can do is report it where they get past the admins.

Domains typically have an account to report illegal or questionable activities. The convention is "abuse@<domainname>.com". I just fired off an e-mail to "abuse@gmail.com" and it was not returned so I think it is a monitored address. An ADMINISTRATOR should try contacting them directly.

Some-days I wonder if we should leave their post up with a big warning to avoid, but modify the content to explicitly spell out their g-mail account name. Delete everything else in the message. Then the spam crawlers would find them and inundate their accounts with their own medicine. What a scourge
putting in time/effort to try and close an email account is pretty pointless in stopping forum spam. once they've already signed up for the various forums and spammed their wares the email is as good as burned already and they just register for another email account, rinse and repeat.
the only things that can be do are stronger defenses for the sign up and faster removal of posts/accounts.
more moderators is one way to decrease the time between post and removal and/or more people reporting the spam when they see it.

I normally report spam on the forums I frequent but I do sometimes wonder if I'm the 99th person to report a post and thus driving the Admins mad.
How does the reporting work guys ?
Regards, Graham.
