    Changes for 2011

Probably too late to have any effect on Audi, but what easily-made changes would you most like to see in the 2011 R8?

    I'll start:

    - Power seat memory
    - MMI interface and CD changer both available in same car

Honestly, that's about it. In my view, for its intended purpose, the current design of this car is about the best balance of trade-offs I can imagine.

(I'm assuming the V10 I've ordered will have already corrected the problems I had with my '08 V8: jamming fuel filler lid, numerous early sensor failures, leak-prone steering rack.)

I'm really hoping that Audi resists the tendency to "facelift" any elements of its stunning exterior design in the middle of the model run. I am sick of seeing once-clean designs, such as the 2003 Mercedes SL and any numbers of Mustangs, acquire spurious bumps, lumps, glitter, and bling at mid-run update time.

Audi is already nudging the line with the chrome grill, the shiny "V10" side insignia, the silver engine bay vents, and the blingy Y-spoke wheels on the 5.2. Any more "improvement" won't be.

    Re: Changes for 2011

-Release the LP-560 power hidden in that V10.
    -Black Grill/Logos option.
-Extend Tuscan Brown seat leather to doors.
-Extend CF interior option to replace all plastic bits.
-Dynaudio VW stereo system instead of marginal Bose unit.
    -Bring back Mugello Blue.
-Offer sport seats in the US
-Change alcantera seats and contrast stitching options from AE to std option list.

    I can dream, can't I?

    Re: Changes for 2011

I want Audi to follow what Porsche did with their evolution of the 911 model. I want the Audi V10 R8 version of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Make the new Audi R8 Club Sport (RS) weigh < 3000 LBS.
Give it a RWD option to help make this < 3000 LBS weight.
Add a double clutch sequential transmission.
Get rid of the metal shifter plate on the manual 6sp.
    Increase camber angle setting options.
Build the Club Sport (RS) with a built in roll bar, along with an integrated harness bar.
Have an option for larger tires to match the bigger HP with 18" track wheels on the Club Sport (RS): 275 x 18 fronts, 335 x 18 rears.
Offer a track serious aero kit

haha bodhii, always about the track

    Really for me...

    -Stronic
-Better nav/headunit (touch screen, internal hard drive)

Actually, the Stronic would be all I need to buy a new R8 happily.
    2009 Audi R8 (Silver)
    2010 Audi S5 (Silver)
    2011 Audi Q5 (Sexy Brown)
    2012 Tesla Model S (Soon?)

-Extend Tuscan Brown seat leather to doors (ditto for other colors)
-Extend CF interior option to replace all plastic bits. (or piano black, which we do now after the sale)

-Bring back Mugello Blue. (and get some better exclusive colors. Morning Dew? Seriously?)
-Offer sport seats in the US (AMEN, side airbags suck!)
-Change alcantera seats and contrast stitching options from AE to std option list. (would be nice to have wider option lists in general, alacarte style)

OEMplus, I thought someone (MotherTrucker?) said there was an easy mod to add power to the V10. Is that not the case?

It was Ti-Mike who found an easy mod to get 525 up to 560. He may be able to help hook people up during the Alps run (which unfortunately I now can't attend)

    Re: Changes for 2011

it is nothing else then a software mod....which will keep the butterfly valves open....so that they don't close down at +6700rpm.....
Now if you open this electric limiter plus on the open version make a chip tuning and a exhaust, you easily make it up to the ABT 600 HP.....that is all they do......
I can ask Martin if we can make a day during the ALP road trip so he can update your cars......open them or / and do the additional upgrade....as we might ( if he agree's ) have no dynometer, we our you can check the outcome with a drift-box......Martin and I have one......so we measure before and after......you will see......only opening up the car .....wow....and specially in the high rpm, the car will really start to push.....

This is all ABT is doing as well....because if you look they the torque, it doesn't really increase much......

and guess what it will not be 6000 or 8000 Euro as ABT......ok they add a exhaust but still......it might be around 2700 CHF....but please don't nail me on the price....his business.....but if it will be 300 CHF more, well ...............it will take about 45 to 60 min per car plus the test drive , so better we say 1.5 h per car......and he needs a high speed internet to his server.

so rather we do it at my place or somewhere at a hotel........as you might imagine we can't do it at the Audi Motor Sport Italia.......
    greetings from Lugano
    MIKE
