    New Audi R8 "Sport" spied

These pictures show what could be a lightweight hardcore version of the R8 V10. The company has made no secret of its desire to create Sport versions of the TT and R8, which would be sharper and more track-focused.

Extensive weight gains would be achieved by the simpler bucket seats and removal of luxuries such as the stereo and air-conditioning. There are also motorsport-style quick-release buttons for the front cladding.

Visual changes, as can be seen from these spy shots, would be centred around sucking the car into the asphalt. The fixed rear wing and small aerodynamic blades fixed to the front bumper would give the car more traction.

The previous-generation Audi TT was treated to the Sport treatment, creating a limited-edition model with more power and less weight.

Audi hinted last year that intensified versions of its sports cars were likely; so far this black car and a similar silver R8 have been seen testing at the Nurburgring.

The power gains over the standard 518bhp R8 V10 will be minimal, however, ensuring that the car will still fall shy of the Lamborghini Gallardo’s LP560-4’s 552bhp.

Weight LOSS gains. Oxymoron ,but I understand what's meant. But why the heavier V10 style wheel? Should have the Hamann track wheels...at least. Still AWD,the Sport? Sign me up for a pair of front winglets please.
