    R8 Warranty

Curious....with my car I negotiated the inclusion in the price of both the services contract 4/50k schedules maintenance contract as well as an extended warranty 7/100k, not that I would see those kind of miles or time but as a differentiator when reselling the car. I am interested in many of the performance enhancements posted be it Supercharging, blocking exhaust valves, chipping, etc etc, how does this affect your manufactures warranty, if at all?? Dealer reaction, etc?

    Re: R8 Warranty

I know its different in the USA but here in the UK SC or TC set-ups would void the warranty instantly.

    Re: R8 Warranty

look at it from their perspective - they sell you something designed to cope with a certain level of pressure and you strap on a turbo/sc which dramatically increases that pressure. do you think the original manufacturer should then incur costs if that increased pressure causes damage?

that's at one extreme, it gets less black and white as you go down the scale to where the changes don't really cause any greater stresses on the stock components eg a change of exhaust. in the us I believe it comes down to the car maker being able to show that the aftermarket component contributed to the failure for them to be able to deny a repair under warranty.

this goes into it in detail:

    Re: R8 Warranty

It all comes down to time & money. For minor warranty issues unrelated to the modification, you're probably okay. If you install a SC or TT and blow the engine, Audi undoubtedly will say it's your problem. If you don't agree, your attorney will be explaining it to their attorney. Etc...
