If you could save 2 sets of sideblades.....

I seek some opinions here, no wrong answer: My Suzuka Grey R8 has CF Blades. I also have a new set of Daytona Grey sideblades that came with the car. Rather than have them sit on a shelf, I can have them painted in a friends bodyshop in any known color in the galaxy for very little money. On the next service call, I'd swap the blades and have a different look to the car for awhile. What colors (not necessarily Audi) would you recommend I consider? Also, for the computer literate, is anyone aware of a program that I can take a picture of the car and "fill" the blade with different colors to get an idea of the look? Something like on a manufacturers website when you 'build a vehicle'... you can toggle through the stock colors of the car and touch the picture and the car turns that color.

Programs like Photoshop will let you select an area of an image and change its color. Other, much less expensive programs will too. For PC users, Paint Shop Pro from Corel works very well and is under $100. Not sure what's available for the Mac.

Admittedly you say you can have them painted at little cost by a friend of yours but:

You may wish to consider simply having the replacement sideblades wrapped in vinyl rather than having them painted because that way you could always go back to daytona grey aswell.

The wrap can be applied very quickly and is alot less hassle than repainting for practically the same effect.

On the subject of colour, how about matching suzuka grey? Some (few) people like the look of the R8 with matching body-coloured sideblades.

Other than matt black or gloss black, I cannot think of anything better than carbon which you already have on there

My car is Brilliant red with CF blades. I think silver would look good..........also white if the car had white interior, which it doesn't have.

Wrapped in vinyl? Who does that type of work? I thought of the matching sideblades... that's top of my list as it will change the look of the car. If I do a usable second set, Id want it to be vastly different... not another version of grey/black like the CF's look from a distance

How about orange? That would be different. I think most paint protection film installers also do vinyl prints.

3M makes a very convincing textured vinyl (Di-Noc) that looks like carbon fiber. The advantage is that it can be had in various shades of gray and silver. So if you like the carbon fiber look but want less contrast than the Audi blades give, it's an option. It's a self-adhesive do-it-yourself product, and application is very simple, either for you or a body shop.
