    check engine light

new R8 V10 1700 miles. Second time check engine light has come on. error code for cylinder misfire. Called special R8 roadside assistant. They sent a flat bed tow truck from New Jersey (live at the beach in Delaware). Car being checked at dealership 90 miles away. I've read previous posts reporting same problem. How common is this error?
    Only using Shell premium gas

Quite a few of those posts were mine. The problem has pretty much cleared up on its own. I haven't had a random misfire for quite a while.

I did switch Top Tier stations and brands (I no longer use the Chevron stations near my home and office) so I figure it was fuel-related.

    Re: check engine light

My new V10 had MIL lamp come on shortly after picking it up. Fault code was for the secondary air system. The dealership replaced the relay....no luck. A new ECM was brought in from Germany....no luck. At this point the repair steps in the manual were exhausted. The tech at my dealership figured at this point it had to be a bad wire somewhere. So after much try and error determined that the ground wire on the ECM had a faulty connector on it. He replaced the connector and it has been working perfectly since.

Crazy that a 1 cent connector kept my car in the shop for about a week.

Can you please get the reference number from your dealer for this upgrade?

    Re: check engine light

According to my service advisor, the EMU update performed on my car has not been officially released. The car was updated online by German audi tech. A technical service bulletin will be officially released later. The advisor did not find a number associated with the EMU update. I had misfires detected in cylinder's 6-9. They also drained the fuel, refueled with Shell and used audi fuel additive.

Hey guys Tommy here from Winner Audi in Delaware. The TSB has not been officially released yet, but will be soon. Audi techline called us after talking to engineers in Germany, and instructed us to complete the new programming for both ECU's. We basically hooked up the R8 to the VAS 5051B computer and watched as techline downloaded the new files into the car. We didn't get to see much of the info on our side, but as soon as the TSB gets released, I'll let you know. Thanks-T
