Let this be the official thread for this year's events in Monterey, CA.
It's still not to late to start planning your trip to the Monterey Peninsula for the PB Concours, Auctions, Historic & Collector Car weekend. A lot of the hotels are already booked out but I see some vacancies on Orbitz & Travelocity. This year, it takes place the week of August 9th with most events occurring Wednesday - Sunday.
Time for something different.
I recently received word that ACNA GG Chapter will be hosting an event at the Monterey Historic Races, similar in scope to what is done for ALMS events. Not sure of the day/days yet but it will probably be Saturday and/or Sunday. I have not attended a ACNA ALMS event but I presume we're talking about a corral, hospitality tent & food? A Parade lap was part of the ALMS event on the ACNA GG chapter's web site but I doubt this will happen at the Historic races. It should be right in line with what BMWCCA & PCA provide. More on this later.
The Concorso Italiano is back for a second year on Friday at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch. While this was fun last year, I'm considering another Friday event this year, the Pacific Grove Auto Rally. It's really like an all day Show & Shine/Cars & Coffee - with entertainment and amenities. PG closes down main street (Lighthouse Avenue) and cars start arriving pretty early, not 1pm as stated on the web site! At 6pm, the entire lineup leaves for a CHP/Police escorted tour of the Monterey Peninsula. Returning to PG, participants can park down town and head over to Chatauqua Hall for a BBQ. Harry and I went briefly last year, it was great fun. If you decide to go, be sure to bring your jacket. PG can be really chilly in August if the fog is in.
So, who's planning on going & what are you intending to do??
