I have a conflict, which means I'll unfortunately miss Mulholland.
Not planning on Borrego, either. We did take a drive to the desert this weekend (to take a look at Chuckwalla!) and saw some wildflowers in the higher elevations. The ocotillo was in bloom, along with barrel cactus and prickly pear. Also some areas of roadside wildflowers. Not bad for this early in the season.

The Interstate 10 near Pheonix Az. is yellow from the side of highway all the way up to the mountain tops. Will post a pic.(soon).It seems some of the bugs hitting my windshield have consumed these flowers as well. \"/

There was one other R8 at the Mulholland drive today (the black one with the black VF supercharger, Dymag wheels and blacked out grill, markers & badges), besides mine. The drive was alright. Nice group of people, but way too many bicycles (some type of race today and tomorrow) and other cars and the roads are in pretty poor shape.
The roads for the Borrego drive should be much better. I was just on some of them Thursday and they were in good shape. These roads are much wider and maintained. Hopefully there will not be too many other cars, since it is a Sunday. I will make a new post when this drive's information gets updated. Right now there is no clear starting point or time specified.

There has been an update posted for the Borrego Drive. I have finally seen the route and it will be a long (almost 200 miles) but fun drive. Our mountain roads are in pretty good shape and they did pick some curvy sections that are a lot of fun. I see 13 people (from Southern Cal Audi Chapter) signed up, so far. Let's get some R8s out for it. It should be a great day.

You all missed a fun drive today. There were 9 Audi's that made it today. I had the only R8. The drive started at 9am and was real close to 200 miles. We did stop a few times so people could use the restrooms, see a view point and eat (in two places). The last stop ended around 3:30-4pm.
The roads were in pretty good shape and traffic was not too bad. There is always some slow vehicles on Sundays, but we did go along pretty fast. Average speed of 51 mph and my trip computer displayed 17.1 mpg. Not bad considering our speeds and full throttle acceleration for some passing and takeoffs.
