To Clearbra or not to Clearbra

I've been considering a clearbra for my car but my brother-in-law who has a Ford GT and my wife's cousin who owns multiple Lamborghinis and an Enzo say do not do it, they've had issues with them in the past. I was considering using Premiere to do the work. Thoughts anyone?

If the car is fully cleaned and sealed first, and then the VentureShield applied....I would recommend it. Premiere is supposed to be the place to go in CA.

I had it done in Seattle, and it is very good except for a few small places which I found later after I got home which need to be fixed. I am confident that they can be fixed, and then I will be satisfied with it. But I would only use the VentureShield and have it cut to wrap around the edges as much as possible.

The bra can't even be seen on my car (Ibis white). Just don't do a 1/2 hood. I had the whole front end covered and the other smaller places like the mirrors done as well. Then the bra and the rest of the car can be waxed with a premium wax. From then on, the car can be washed and detailed just as you would if the bra were not present.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the info Steve. My car is Ice Silver Metallic and from what I been told it's a very good color for the film to be basically invisible. I was thinking about wrapping the whole front end including the mirrors like you did. Have you had any problems with stains from bugs, etc????

    What kind of issues?

Really comes down to where you live. You would think that the roads in New England were unpaved. I've been hit by more rocks in 10 years than I care to count, so I typically have it installed.

Here's a shot of the car with a clearbra. Can't even see it.

Just got back from the detailer's with my ibis white V10 which had the ventureshield kit installed. Looks pretty **** good. I don't see what 'issues' it can cause that can't be fixed. 'Issues' to me would be something that would damage the car - I don't see how this product can damage the car.

I would certainly do it again. I had a lot more put on as well. I had the guys cover my lower rocker panels, the panel in front of the rear wheels, and the part of the rear bumper behind the back tire. I think I will go back and have them do the piano black bits on the front grill and such, because I think that piece will get rather chipped over time and look like arse if it's not protected.

After seeing the picture and listening to your opinions on your installations I'm going to do it. CBPRI your car looks great! The relatives issues were clouding where they had to have it removed and it damaged the clearcoat. They just get the front resprayed every few years if they keep the car. Thanks guys!

Like everything in life, there are pros and cons to paint vs film. The film is soft. That's why the rocks bounce off! If not cared for properly it absorbs contaminants, can turn yellow from certain cleaners and waxes, and may be scratched by rubbing it too hard while cleaning the bugs. If film was without drawbacks, then the OEMs would be installing it.

If the car is a garage queen, then don't put on film. Detail the car appropriately and you will have the best appearance.

The bottom line for me in choosing film is I love being able to blast along in traffic without worrying about every little stone thrown up from the other vehicles. That peace of mind is worth the minor drawbacks of the film.

Re: To Clearbra or not to Clearbra

    Hi all,

Thanks for info above, i realise i am in the UK but also considering the full front of the Spyder to be clear wrapped before the Alps trip, the company i found is www.carbonskin.co.uk & they are quoting £670 plus vat to do it and it takes about 4 hours.

Question, i have ordered Sepang pearlescent blue, do you think it will be noticed, i would hate to have a car that looks like two colours?

Not long now, production starts in 10 days!!

On the white it is not noticeable on the full hood. On darker colours it can add a orange peel kind of look to it, but again, it depends on what you're wanting. Protection so you can rip it up on the racetrack, or not have to worry about getting a rock from a truck you are following... or are you going to have a garage queen that only comes out on sunny days, and you want the paint to look perfect all the time. It is a personal choice, mine was easy... she's going to see track time, and I don't want a sand blasted front end, and I'm not a concourse kind of person. Easy.
