    Smile Irregular Idle

Anyone having problems with wandering Idle??? I have a 2009 6MT car and when I push the clutch in when coming to a stop the idle jumps to 1000 and falls to 400. It eventually settles around 800. Car has around 2500 miles and this just recently started occurring..

Nope, the R-Tronic has a quirk if you press brake and gas at same time in certain circumstances it will 'take over' but that usually increases the revs slightly, but yours sounds like a genuine problem with a sensor somewhere - do you have a VCDS to check for warning flags on the sensors? The dealer can do this for you.

Oil usage is common for these engines, especially when new. You can search this forum and find several threads about it. Some engines are worse than others.

I added my first quart at about 2500 miles and was good until the 5k service. Then I added 1 qt a little over 8K.

Mines settled down now to about half a litre every 3000 miles.

    Re: Irregular Idle

Mine does this if I drop the clutch while still rolling at a pace. If I drop it when going REALLY slow or stationary then it does not do this. My dealer said it was normal - something to do with electronics trying to match revs with speed of roll!!! Sounds daft, but who knows!

    Re: Irregular Idle

Then the moral of the story is when going really slowly (!!) it is mandatory to drop it! ;-)

    Re: Irregular Idle

I have a manual transmission and it does hunt a bit sometimes when slowing to a stop. It's done it since day 1.

    Re: Irregular Idle

I don't think I've heard of this happening on R-tronics. Hunting can be a problem when smog testing and holding revs at a steady 2500. I think/hope the 24R4 flash/update fixed that. Will try an independant test to verify.
