How many are we getting in the US? I'm also considering the Porsche GT2 RS mainly because it is available with 6 speed. The R8 GT would be my first choice if it was available in a 6 speed.

I was told that IF we do get any here...out of the 333 being built....they will ALL be R-tronic!
Try it, you'll like it!

2006 M6 V10.....the MMMSIX
We will get some... all you have to do is ask your dealer to make a call for you. There really isn't a huge demand for it. The GT will only come in R-tronic wherever you are...

Before discounting R-tronic, try it.
I'm a manual man through-and-through and have a manual V8 R8. I did a track day a few weeks back with an R-tronic V10 and it was wonderful fun!
We will of course get some. There are photos of it on the road in California testing. Don't think they'd be testing it in the US if you couldn't get one here.
As for the gearbox, I am also a manual driver, but there will not be one available. Think of it this way though. They aren't going to release the highest performance model with a worse gearbox. If it only comes in R-tronic, it's because R-tronic is simply better than the manual.
I agree as far as lap times, the R tronic is definitely faster. I'm just thinking on the street. I am going to be driving the new Lambo Superleggera soon with probably the same gearbox so I'll see how I like it.
