Hey guys, I've been considering a Central Coast tour/drive during the Monterey Concours/Collector Car/Auction/ Historic Races Week in August and think I have something you will really enjoy. I highly recommend we do this before the crush of people arrive for the weekend. Thursday 8/12 would be optimal since the Concorso Italiano and other events are on Friday.
I compiled the drive drive below and have done this in just about everything I've owned. If you've never seen or driven Pacific Coast Highway to Big Sur, and the back roads of the Central Coast and Monterey County, this trip is for you and your R8, or whatever you bring. We need to start early because it's about a 200 mile round trip.

We start in Carmel and proceed down Highway 1, through Carmel Highlands, over the Bixby Creek Bridge, through the redwood trees and fog to Big Sur. The ]River Inn in Big Sur is always fun, you can sit in an adirondack chair with your feet in the Big Sur river whilst being served your favorite beverage (another trip perhaps). Then there's Nepenthe & Ventana - too many stops, we'll have to decide.
After we've had enough of Highway 1 and Big Sur (if there is such a thing), we'll turn east on Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd and head into the Los Padres NF. I'm thinking perhaps we can tour the mission (doesn't take long) Mission San Antonio and then grab lunch at the Hacienda, which used to be Hearst's hunting lodge. Be sure to bring your driver license, registration and proof of insurance because it lies within Ft Hunter Liggett. All of the land we will have just driven over used to belonged to WR Hearst. Can you imagine - San Simeon to Highway 101?
After lunch, we can continue east to Highway 101 and then take Arroyo Seca Rd/Carmel Valley Road (G16) back to Carmel Valley Village and Monterey.
I'm considering offering this up to the ACNA GG Chapter.
