Deperado clued me into this in my thread about my first track day with my new R8, which was held by my local dealer @ PIR (Portland Intl. Raceway).
But I think it's important enough...and a good enough event...to start a thread about it.
Audi Club N.A. has an annual meet, with tours and other events, every year (Frank Beddor Nationals). This year, they're holding it in Portland just before and coinciding with A.C.N.W's annual Quattrofest driver training/lapping event at PIR.
I was planning to do Quattrofest this year anyway, and with the added events, especially if we could get a good R8 group to attend, I think it could be really a fun time.
The first week of Nov. can be wet in Portland, and Quattrofest is well known for testing the rain skills of Quattro drivers, but the activities they've got planned can be fun rain or shine, especially in an R8. You'll never know how much FUN an autocross can be until you've tried it in the rain! Also, day one of the touring goes up the Columbia Gorge to the dry east side country, so even if the weather is rainy on the coast, it won't be all in the wet. And there could also be spectacular blue sky Fall weather still in early Nov.
Check out the web site and if it sounds interesting, plan to bring your R8 for some varied exercise. I guarantee you will find PIR a very interesting and enjoyable track for "driver training." If we get enough of an R8 group, it would be great to plan an additional R8 event if there's a niche somewhere in the schedule. Give it a look!!![]()
