Track daze...Buttonwillow,Ca 5-28-10

My good freind, Ed, who owns 2 Ford GTs,one stock- one with 690 Hp-710 torque, both that are garaged at the track. Ed recently purchased this Tim Russel school car. For 13K. He ran in my group. I thought I was trying to catch up to him and he says he was trying to catch up to me. He is quite the joker. I acheived my best ever time of 2:06, a little more than a second faster than my last track day last month. Ed did a 2:03 yesterday but fighting traffic and waiting for point-bys. Point bys are MANDATORY in the intermediate group. ( someone ratted me out that I did a pass with-out a point by yesterday.I was reprimanded. So later this German guy in a P-car did'nt know how to do a point-by so, I had to give him all kinds of hand motions. He thought all he had to do was lift. I did have a conversation with him in the pits, (heated) about it. Anyways this was Eds' first time in his little Mazda rotary engine BEAST. The car was running rough in the morning.(what do you expect for only 13K?) He had the track race shop work on it-and two hours later - HP went up from 140 HP to 175HP - all dynoed results.The shop is called 7's - 95.00 per hour labor. Actually there are a few shops at the track. Ed has a lot of track time and he says the little car will do a 1:55 with him behind the wheel, maybe a 1:51 when he gets to know it better.I beleive him. I am 'gonna keep my eyes open for one of these. He says he has never had so much fun driving. The best car he has ever driven!!
