    R8 v8 or gallardo??? Help

Hi Im new to the forum. Hoping maybe some of you guys can help. Just got rid of my sc viper srt10. Looking for a new ride that is a little more civilized. Currently I'm interested in a 2007 gallardo & a 2009 r8. Both have under 1200 miles. I know the gallardo is faster, however there are no lambo dealers near me & the 4.2 r8 can be services at my local audi dealer. Has anyone had experience with both cars? Will performance be very noticable? The lambo has every option and under 1000 miles. However it's 22k more that the r8 with 1200 miles. I'm very confused help. Responses appreciated also r8 is a 6 speed lambo is egear.

Drive them both. Too bad the R8 isn't E-gear as well. That makes it tough. The R8 with E-gear (actually called R-Tronik) will keep up to the bigger Lambo engined car a little easier. The reason the Lambo you are looking at is so cheap, is the body style is already dated (I think) and warranty is gone or almost. If you can afford a newer model Lambo I would GO FOR IT. The Audi is less finiky, more reliable and probably a little bit safer in a crash. The newer the Lambo model , the more Audi Tecknology you will find. Audi seems to know what the're doing when it comes to making and selling cars. I would hold out and spend a little more on the R8 with R-tronik. If the R-tronik wasn't superior in race situations, they could'nt charge the almost 10 grand more for it. JMHO. GOOD LUCK. I almost traded in my R8 to go Lambo. I am glad I stayed in my R8 . MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK you might say. And there are TEN Lambos on my block already. I am the only R8 for miles around. My freind Scott R84ME has the only R8 in all of Tuscon...a mighty big city. He's the king over there !!

Thanks for your reply. I was not aware that the R-Tronic is faster that the 6 speed. I have been trying to google articles and some of the article started that the 6 speed performed better. I need to drive both and decide

I have a 09 R8 6 speed and a 08 Superleggera egear. The R8 is a daily driver/tame supercar. I can drive it anywhere. The Gallardo is a weekend car. Faster but more of a handful to drive around. The speed difference isn't noticeable and at the end of the day, I'm more likely to jump in the R8 than the Gallardo. I still love the Lambo for what it is but the lambo is not "civilized".

The cost of servicing the clutch that wears much quicker in an E-Gear Lambo than the R8 will make you wish you chose the Audi for DD use.

Good point on the clutch. Im at 2 K and have about 15% wear. Clutch wear seems to be a moving target in the Gallardo world with more issues on the 04-06 cars. In any case, much bigger issue than the R-Tronic or a 6 speed R8. General upkeep on a Gallardo is also more $$$$.

The other thing is others behave better around a R8. I am not afraid to leave it parked or drive it daily. The Gallardo brings out some severe emotions in people.

I was talking to a friend with a R8 V10 R-tronic and a LP560-4 E-gear who told me the transmissions feels identical in both cars.

My 08 Gallardo Egear feels a lot rougher and less forgiving than the 10 V10 R8 I drove at Sonoma. I concur with the above and have heard the the new E-gear in the 09+ LP560 is identical in feel to the current R8 R-tronic.

I've been lucky enough to own both cars and the r8 is simply better. Also think about the warranty thats about to expire on the lambo
