I got someones attentio this morning.

Coming down the 57 this morn, cookin as usual, I barely caught a glimpse of a black and white at side of freeway. I emmediatly slowed and was searching my rear view for the CHP.I could'nt find him 'till I looked at my GF and saw the CHPs' face alongside me. I think those Highway Patroll units can do the quarter mile in less than 12 seconds. NO TICKET !!!! Not even stopped. The GF thinks he heard us accelerating past his stopped unit. TOO close for comfort. Happy Holidays fellow Hooligans !! And the rest of you too. \"/

You sure got lucky. They have been announcing that this weekend as a high activity period (extra officers and strict rules). I would highly recommend taking it easy this weekend, unless you want to contribute to the state fund.

Lucky. We're in the Nanny State here in Ontario, Canada. Anything over 50km/hr over, and one loses one's license AND car for a week. No recourse. I hear a bunch of cars got nabbed in the province when the Gumball came through. Just not worth driving fast on public roads where I live.

I just have to satisfy myself knowing what my car CAN do, and not press my luck. Here in FL we have airplane surveillence, and a couple hundred thousand ticket writers.

Here in Australia if you are 40k over you lose your car for 2 days.

This government is now seriously considering the introduction of manless flying drones to catch speeders and hoons.

If only they could put the same effort into catching petty crime and criminal activity

Also in some areas of our lives they have passed the Nanny state and become the Bully state.

The Sprint Booster reads the car's speed from the OBDII CAN-BUS. It also has a transponder, known as the Sprint Snitch, which transmits the speed and the car's VIN number to CHP headquarters in Sacramento using the bluetooth in the MMI-RNS and your linked iPhone. The CHP can send a signal back to the Sprint Booster to remotely modify the Boost curve, using the Sprint Retarder module which is also on the circuit board inside the unit. This makes it possible for the officer to catch your R8 regardless of how wide your tires, wing or splitter are. The only way to defeat the Sprint Retarder is to put as much carbon fiber on the car as possible, but especially the roof and as big a wing as possible (since the antennas are in the windshield and the rear bumper). The carbon in the fabric acts as a radiation shield, effectively reducing the range of the Sprint Snitch so it can't contact the cell phone network. Even though you won't be able to make phone calls from inside your car (just ask Ian, or was it Graham?) the peace of mind is worth it.
