    V10 with Stasis Exhaust/Escort/Laser Interceptor

Here is a video link for my V10 after installing a Stasis exhaust. It also shows the installation of my radar/laser counter measures. The exhaust has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the car and I would highly recommend it. There is no drone and I am able to use blue tooth without issue. I never turn on the stereo anymore.

Looking good... though, unless things changed from V8 to V10, there is definite drone with the Stasis Exhaust

Thumbs up Re: V10 with Stasis Exhaust/Escort/Laser Interceptor

I had a Stasis exhaust installed ~ 2 weeks ago on my V8 R8. I definitely enjoy the new exhaust note. They may have tweaked the design a bit because there was no hint of a drone during a 250 mile round trip drive from Orange County up the freeway to the canyons in the Malibu/Lost Hills area. A bit louder when you get on it, but at cruising speed not bad at all. I think it improves the character and driving experience of the car overall. Thanks to Rich at OEMPlus for a great install and to Chris and Henry at Stasis!

RSMR8's car was the first car to receive the updated STaSIS system for the 4.2L engine. MUCH better than previous systems and I'm glad to hear that all is well!!

We also worked closely w/STaSIS to develop the 5.2L system and drone was the #1 issue for that R&D cycle. That first install is running around SD county at the moment and we are looking forward to installing another one of them here shortly.

FWIW - I love the Escort install on these cars. When done properly, it is invisible to the eye yet very effective!

I'm glad you like the exhaust rdk. I loaned my car to STaSIS to do some product development testing and they are currently installing the exhaust and ECU upgrade right now. I'm very anxious to get the car back.

Rich: is there a creative solution for the rear lidar rcvr./shifter on the R8

I got an overall very satisfactory install of my Escort 9500ci from my Audi dealer's main R8 tech. He ran waaay over their "hours required" quote but they held to the quote and did a very tidy, unobtrusive install that you really have to get down on your haunches and look at to spot.....in the FRONT! And the inside is beautiful and exactly like I wanted. So overall, I'm very happy.

But the rear is another story! That black bar is big and hard to hide to begin with, and, at least on my car, the angled mount tabs push it too high to clear the back-up camera, so it has to be mounted "upside down" (entirely OK as far as function per Escort's forum website), putting it down below the upper edge of my dark blue plate (on a light blue car) and making it stick out like a sore thumb!

I decided if a LEO asks about it: "it's a back-up camera, sir!"

Also, that rear plate mount area is not 100% vertical, making it look like the shifter is aimed a little high. Manual says theres 5 deg. of tolerance from level and I'm not sure it makes that. Though a favorite tactic around here is to shoot you in the rear from an overpass, so maybe slight up-angle mounting is not a bad thing?

I'm just wondering if you've got any other ideas, or have seen any, about this particular issue with the "ci" Escort (or specifically its laser component, which I guess is also sold separately).

This is a far fetched idea, but an idea none the less...

Is it possible to run a pair of detector/jammer units, like up front, in the back? If I understand correctly, there's only one input for the rear unit, so there would have to be a Y-harness or splicing of a pair together (that's what I wonder if will work) to take place of the one big ugly bar.

If you can get away w/a pair, then you could stick them into the rear horizontal louvers below the tail lights. Similar in style the way the pair were put up front.

Like I said, just a thought.

I think there are two modules on the back of the car in the video. At 1:19 and 1:30 I can see modules in the back, right below the tail lights on each side as you mentioned.

Not sure this is a good idea. The laser beams that hit the car have an average diameter of about 18", so the detectors need to be close to where the cop is aiming the beam. Cops are trained to try to shoot the front of the car by aiming at either the front license plate or, in its absence, at one of the headlights (hence the dual detectors on the front) and to shoot the rear of the car by aiming at the license plate (hence the center mounted detector on the rear).

Rear detectors placed in the louvers would be outside the diameter of a beam aimed at the rear license plate.
