17k miles service due- questions

I bought my 2008 r8 about six months ago.
The onboard computer shows that service is due.

Could someone share with me what this service is about? What kind of maintenance will Audi perform and what will it cost? I just want to have an idea before I call the local dealer for an appointment.

I doubt it's anything more than a regular check up. I don't think it entails replacing anything. Maybe just a fluid flush or something. I doubt it's mandatory.

I was told this is one of the more extended services. This is covered under the Audi Care
program. I think the service is at 15,000 miles.

Audi has the same maint. schedule for ALL models of a given model year...obviously with some footnotes about model variances...here's the 2008 schedule from the the www.audiusa.com web site (under "owners")

Since it's a standard service, your dealer should be able to give you an accurate quote for this (I assume it is) 15k interval service.
