    Not a good day

    Well, I've done it.

    I wrecked the car.

I know the road like the back of my hand, but this time, well... Just a bit too hot into a corner, front end started a push, I feathered off to get the back end to loosen grip a tad and weight the front end, but I was too deep into the corner.

Off the road I went somewhere in the range of 60 or so. Up into the side of the trees and then BOOM. Sudden stop.

It hit hard enough that the rear glass shattered.

It's on the back of a wrecker at the moment and I'll be getting in touch with Audi to find who's the local repair shop. I think it's down in Lexington, which is about 100 miles away.

I'm really hoping it's not totaled. Yea, it's screwed up, but if it can be repaired, I plan on driving this car until it's done - I just hope this isn't done.

Went to the hospital to verify what I figured: Badly bruised my right shin and snapped a rib. I hate breaking ribs (this is #4 or 5, not sure anymore) - they make breathing a bit of a biatch at times. Airbags work VERY well, btw.

The car WILL live again - after all, it's going to be getting a turbo system and carbon/ceramic brakes. I can't let that stuff just go away now.

If I can't get it repaired, I'll see what's involved in ordering a new one and then put the goodies on that.

Not sure where to go from this moment forth other than seeing what the damage is and if it can be fixed.

Man, not the way to end a week.

Cringed as soon as I saw thread title. Really sucks but at least for the most part you are ok. Hopefully replace some parts and car will be as good as new

YOU survived! the car is secondary!!

just curious: did your airbags deploy? which ones?

    Re: Not a good day

My honest condolences, man. Been there; done that. Not quite as bad, but I do know the feeling. Thankfully I had my Porsche to act as a spare. Glad to hear you are unscathed. These cars do love to be taken to their limits.

Everyone be careful out there! Gravity and other laws of physics sometime forget that we are all such excellent, hi performance drivers.

Good to talk with you and glad you are just down a rib and bruised leg.

The backup plan we discussed is ready to execute if needed. Hopefully it will not be necessary. Let us know what happens with Audi.

Ouch. It is only a car and can be fixed or replaced. Glad you are alright, that is the important part. Take care of yourself and keep us posted.
