Another V10 Spyder joins the ranks....

Thought I would say hello, I took delivery of my R8 Spyder about a month ago.

As most “taking delivery” threads go I suppose it’s usually to rant on how amazing the car is. It is EPIC!

I decided quite late I wanted the V10 Spyder, initially I was after either a Lp560 Gallardo or the Merc SLS. But hard to believe, that after I saw the UK Audi TV advert with the white R8 Spyder in between those hot rods I knew that was the car for me. Weird way to pick a car on impulse, but then after reading and actually driving the car after I knew I made the right choice.


You can see the colour combo and all the usual options except ceramic breaks and illuminated sills. It’s R tronic also.

After I saw the advert I was able to get the car very quick….And direct to you, you know who you are, it was not a problem at all in getting the car, you caused no delay and I picked it up actually earlier than expected. Pathetic really….


I’ve done only 300 miles in it, 200 of which were done coming back from Peterborough. As I send the car to Paintshield. Who did an amazing job! I had the car fully covered in their clear protection film, one of the joys of living in London is you are worried about the scratches…. If anyone wants to know specifics please pm me on the Paintshield.

I read recently of another V10 Spyder owner but also read about his “heavy foot” style of driving a bit. I can’t report on the sound or the speed as yet as I thought you have to be very cautions for the first 2,500 miles? Maybe i'm wrong? Input would be nice on that one!

I usually do about 2,000 miles a year so ill be reading up on other posts about noise and speed!

Way to go, XTO! Nice combo. We just received word today that our red/black spyder entered the "production stage". Now if they will just confirm the beast lives and has a VIN! We're dying since we pre-sold our '09 R8 coupe. Terrible withdrawal symptoms!

Looks great XTO. Try following Monkeyboy's example, if you can - he blatted it on the unrestricted autobahn, just out of the box. I'll leave it to him to indicate the speed!

Mat that fun pedal right off the bat. Don't baby the car. It needs to be heated up and run at temp to keep it happy. That means having fun in it.

The factory breaks the engine in quite well; 8,700 rpm for an hour right off the assembly line sitting on a stand. (just saw the Ultimate Factories - Audi last night.)

r8vten - some nice black pictures for you.... i was having a look i dont seem to have any open roof pic's for you to see the red leather. but hopefuly this weekend i will take some more.

I've ordered lunar silver (seats), with black leather/silver stitching elsewhere (doors, cowling, gearshift, steering wheel etc), plus carbon fibre inlays, plus illuminated doorsills, plus high gloss alloys.

Are yours the 'high gloss' alloys or the standard V10 alloys?

(Edit: I've gone a bit black/silver mad actually, even ordered custom number plates in black/silver, now just waiting for a car to put them on )
