VF Engineering Supercharged R8 on Nurburgring

The Alpine tour was fantastic, the following video shows my fast lap at the Ring helped by Frank who was on our tour and had done 100+ laps of the ring over the years. This is the short version, the whole lap can found on Youtube as well under Alpine tour R8 if you're interested.

The supercharged R8 felt torquier than my counterparts V10's for those of you thinking of doing the S/C vs upgrading to a V10.

Hey Mav, congrats on a great trip!

I know track times using different amateur drivers is often meaningless or worse, but how were Frank's lap times compared to the better V10 times?

*** Ooops,.. I just saw your video and I now see that the overall traffic on the Ring would render any time comparisons irrelevant. Quite a bit more traffic than when I drove it a couple years ago at a Ferrari event. I never had to weed my way around delivery van traffic! LOL... Super nice video! Well made. Thanks!!!

Frank is fast. When he was out there were a couple of storming GT3 RS's, guys with real track time at the ring, and they never caught up to him. He's experienced and pushes it. It helped a lot going with him first and then having him in the passenger seat coaching as I didn't want to come up to a hard turn not knowing it was coming. A 13 mile long track that has high speed turns is hard to memorize after only a few runs. Thx.

Great Video..nice to see the Porsche being passed.

Certainly a lot more exciting ride than mine last year in a rental Renault Laguna 150kw diesel Coupe..which consisted of a lot of right side hugging.

It did though push out 236khm(with a tail wind)

Are you going to post a version without the music to hear the engine in all its glory?

Seriously though, you start picking the corners after a two or three laps. You won't have the confidence of Frank,(who was very quick) for a while, but it was definitely starting to come. I'll certainly run Mike's video a few times before I do it again, just to refresh.

BTW, it is also remarkably addictive. An Irish bloke joined us for our farewell dinner - a regular Ringer - he had phoned his wife from work in Ireland, and said he had a major urge to go away to the Ring for a few days. And did!
